Paralegal Series: The Paralegal/Client Relationship

Updated: Apr 16, 2024

The legal system can be confusing, intimidating, and a lot to take in all at once. You hire an attorney to guide you through that system. You rely on that attorney to advise you of every possible avenue. When you hire an attorney, you are also “hiring” their support staff. Support staff in a law firm consists of Paralegals, Administrative Assistants, Legal Assistants and Receptionists. Every one of these roles play an important part in the handling of your case – but this is specifically what a paralegal does in this law firm:

The Paralegal / Client Relationship:

In our office, the legal assistant and the paralegal answer your phone calls. When you call, chances are you will be speaking with one of us. We are both highly trained in what to say and ask to accurately assess your situation to figure out what kind of consultation you require. This can range from Divorce, Separation, Child Custody, Criminal Defense, Restraining Orders, Evictions, Veteran’s Benefits, and Public Defender Magistrate Court work.  Each area of law requires different questions to be asked so we can get a precise and brief idea of what is going on with your case.

The relationship between a paralegal and a potential client is very important. Since paralegals are typically the first point of contact, the impression that we give to you is what, ultimately, makes you decide to:

  1. Show up to your consult; and

  2. Hire this firm.

We pride ourselves on customer service, and constant availability for texts, emails, and phone calls. The synergy between paralegals and attorneys ensures that the client receives comprehensive, timely, and cost-effective legal services.
