Paralegal Series: What the Paralegal May Ask You

Updated: Apr 16, 2024

Whether it is the initial screening phone call, or the first meeting before meeting with the attorney, you can prepare for this conversation by thinking about and organizing your thoughts about the following:

  • Legal Issue Details - You can expect to discuss your legal issue’s specific details. The paralegal needs to know of any important dates, any notices you have received, and any other important documents that you may have. Don’t be afraid to be more detailed than not. Every detail matters!

  • Personal Information - To create your case profile, the paralegal needs to know your full name, your birthday, your social security number, your address, email address, contact phone numbers, occupation and employer, monthly income, children’s names, spouses’ names, and your spouse’s same information if you are consulting for a family law matter. More times than not, clients are apprehensive to give this information to the paralegal rather than the attorney. Anything you tell the entire office is confidential and privileged, which means that we cannot tell ANYONE!

  • Documents and Evidence - Make sure to give any documents, contracts, letters, photos and any other evidence that may be relevant to your case.
